EMDR therapy for adults · Mondays

EMDR therapy.Ready to stop carrying it around?

Sometimes something happens — or a series of things — and even years later it still catches you off guard. A smell, a comment, a moment of stress, and suddenly you’re back there. Or maybe you’ve noticed a pattern you can’t seem to shift, no matter how much you understand it.

EMDR can help.

What is EMDR?

Evidence

A highly researched psychotherapy

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly researched psychotherapy. The World Health Organization includes EMDR among the psychological interventions that should be considered for adults with Post‑Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). In Australia, Medicare rebates are not specific to EMDR, but eligible clients may receive a rebate when an eligible provider delivers treatment under the Better Access scheme.

Processing

Helping the brain finish what got stuck

EMDR helps your brain finish processing experiences that got stuck. It’s widely used for trauma, but you don’t need to have been through something catastrophic for it to be relevant to you.

You also don’t need to talk through everything in detail — which many people find a genuine relief.

ii.

What EMDR can help with.

  • Anxiety, stress, and worry that feels out of proportion

  • Panic attacks or phobias

  • Low self-worth or self-criticism that goes way back

  • Grief and loss

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Distressing memories or experiences you haven't been able to move past

iii.

How it works.

EMDR uses a technique called bilateral stimulation — usually eye movements or tapping — while you bring a difficult memory or feeling gently into focus.

Over time, the memory loses its intensity. It doesn’t disappear, but it stops feeling so present.

Working with me.

My approach integrates EMDR with parts‑based and attachment‑informed frameworks, which I find particularly helpful for people with complex trauma histories.

I bring a thoughtful, unhurried style to this work — EMDR done well is collaborative, and you’re in the driver’s seat throughout.

Sessions are available on Mondays, either in person in Eltham, Melbourne or via telehealth anywhere in Australia. I work with adults only.
